Zehra and Samar cruise into final

KARACHI, March 22: Alay Zehra reached the ladies final in the Sindh ranking tennis championship, beating Mehak 6-0, 6-1 and will now take on Samar Essa in the final.

Samar got the better of Aisha Mir 6-0, 6-3. Although losing the first set easily, Aisha put up stiff resistance in the next, before finally surrendering the match.

In the junior under-17 event, Nasir Mushtaq never gave Ghulam Abbas Panju, a ghost of a chance, breezing through a 6-2, 6-1 winner to make his way into the final.

Later the two teaming up in the boys under-15 doubles event, the pair were just too good for Hammad and Anas Tahir, who they eliminated 6-0, 6-0.

In the boys under-13 encounter, Zuhair Raza forced his way into the final, shutting out Tahir Ali 6-0, 6-1.

In the boys round robin league, Yasir Ali Khan beat Sheryar 6-0, 6-0, Adil Kohari beat Khawja Hamza 6-4, 6-1. However coming back on court again for his next match, Khawja beat off the challenge of Sheryar 6-1, 6-0.

Results:

Ladies singles (semifinal): Alay Zehra bt Mehak 6-0, 6-1; Samar Essa bt Aisa Mir 6-0, 6-3.

Junior under-17 (singles): Nasir Mushtaq bt Ghulam Abbas Panju 6-2, 6-1.

Boys doubles under-15: Nasir Mushtaq & Ghulam Abbas Panju bt Hammad & Anas Tahir 6-0, 6-0.

Boys singles under-13 (semifinal): Zuhair Raza bt Tahir Ali 6-0, 6-1.

Boys under-11 (round robin): Yasir Ali Khan bt Sheryar 6-0, 6-0; Adil Kohari bt Khawja Hamza 6-4, 6-1; Khawja Hamza bt Sheryar 6-1, 6-0.
