KARACHI, March 22: Sindh Minister for Education and Literacy Dr Hamida Khuhro has emphasised the need of quality education and skilled manpower in order to make rapid headway in the comity of nations.

She was addressing a provincial forum for professional development, arranged in collaboration with USAID and ESRA, here at a local hotel.

The officials, teachers, educationists, representatives of various NGOs and donors participated in research work to assess the present situation analysis and visualize the future requirements.

The minister said that the entire system was aimed at providing better education to the youngsters.

She also quoted the problems and gaps being faced by educational system and said that the entire system needed upgradation and we had to work hard to convert one or two room schools into five rooms or up to middle level.

Dr Khuhro said that the professional development of teachers was the immediate requirement to enhance educational standards in government-run schools with the provision of all types of education to common people.

She further said that we had to work along with the district governments for the improvements of educational system.

The minister highlighted the contribution of Education Support Reforms Assistance (ESRA) which was providing professional development support in the four important districts Hyderabad, Thatta, Sukkur and Khairpur.—APP
