27 workers held for blocking traffic: Killer van set ablaze

SIALKOT, March 21: Motra police on Monday arrested 27 industrial workers for setting ablaze a public transport vehicle and blocking traffic for three hours near Aadna-Daakwala village in Daska tehsil. This was said by Daska ASP Suhail Akhtar Sukhera while talking to the press.

Reports said Ali Raza of Blue Horizon Pvt Ltd was run over and killed by a Mazda van (LPT-9019) on Monday morning in front of the factory on which scores of workers blocked

traffic on Sialkot-Daska-Motra-Gujranwala Road and set the vehicle on fire. The driver managed his escape after the incident.

Later, a police team reached the spot and assured the protesters of action on which they dispersed. Meanwhile, the factory owner has announced a financial compensation for the family of the deceased worker.

GRANT: The Punjab government has released Rs18 million grant to Sialkot TMA for purchasing land on Sialkot-Eimanabad Road to shift the Sabzi and Fruit market to city outskirts.
