KARACHI, March 21: Brisk cargo handling activity was observed at the port where a total tonnage of 99,124 tons comprising 80,594 tons of import and 18,530 tons of export tonnage was handled during the last 24 hours, said a PQA press release on Monday.

Meanwhile, berthing was also brisk as four ships carrying containers, high speed diesel oil and chemicals were accommodated berths at QICT, FOT and MPT. Another ship with containers also reached at the outer anchorage.

Berth occupancy was on the higher side as five ships, Oocl Authority, Nordstrand, Yanaseni, Warbah and Clipper Monaerh were busy in loading and unloading containers, chemicals, diesel oil and wheat.

Five ships, Carmen, Saudi Tabuk Eleranta, Banga Barta and Nur Yanbu with containers coal, jute and chemicals were due to arrive on Monday while P&O Nedlloyd Tiger, Oranje, Min Noble and Antwerp Max were expected to reach on Tuesday.

Sailing was slow as only one ship, Oocl Authority, left the port, while Warbah and Rio Gracia were expected to depart.
