SUKKUR, March 19: A portion of the railway track between Jacobabad and Sibi was washed away by floodwater coming from mountains on Friday night. The track between Damboli and Dangra railway stations was damaged, affecting trains’ schedules. The Karachi-bound Balochistan Express was cancelled and Quetta-bound trains from Peshawar and Lahore were stopped at the Jacobabad railway station. The Jaffer Express, on its way to Quetta from Rawalpindi, was sent back from Dera Allah Yar. The rescue work has been started. Railway sources told Dawn that the damaged track would be restored by Saturday night after which trains would be allowed to operate.—BoC
