HYDERABAD, March 19: Footprints of three activists of the Jeay Sindh Muttahida Mahaz, who are being interrogated in bomb explosion cases, have been confirmed by a foot-tracker in the court of civil judge and judicial magistrate-I Shamsuddin Junejo on Saturday. Mazhar Bhatti, Imran Leghari and Sanaullah Bhatti were produced before the court by the Hussainabad police amidst strict security arrangements. The court remanded the suspects in police custody for seven days. They are being interrogated in two bomb explosions that took place on railway tracks between Hyderabad and Karachi in the jurisdiction of Hussainabad police station on Nov 20, 2004. The police had obtained some footprints from the spot in Sehrish Nagar following the explosions. The suspects were produced before the court and all of them walked on the ground one by one. Each time two members from general public also walked on the same track.

Foot-tracker Mohammad Soomar who had witnessed footprints on the day of explosions examined identification walk and linked three walkers with accused.

The accused persons were brought from Karachi one week back under tight security arrangements.

They were being interrogated in cases of bomb blasts and explosions on Wapda’s transmission lines.

The cases were also lodged against them at Sehwan, Rukkan, Tando Adam, Hussainabad and Jamshoro police stations.

The co-accused included Rafiq Leghari, Sikandar Soomro and Asghar Shah alias Ghulam Raza Shah.

The three suspects were taken back to the Hussainabad police station.

Meanwhile, the press photographers were manhandled by plain-clothes policemen and prevented from doing their professional duties.

Policemen snatched cameras from photographers which were returned after exchange of hot words.
