NAWABSHAH, March 19: On the call of the Sindh Bar Council, members of the District Bar Association boycotted court proceedings here on Saturday in protest against police baton-charge on lawyers of Gujar Khan. An emergency meeting of the Bar association was held which was presided over by its president Qazi Mohammad Saleh. The meeting condemned the Gujar Khan incident and demanded a judicial inquiry into it and strict action against police officials responsible for the use of force against lawyers.
LARKANA: Lawyers affiliated with the District Bar Association, Larkana, boycotted court proceedings on Saturday to protest police action against lawyers in Rawalpindi. They hoisted a black flag over the Bar office and wore black armbands.
In a meeting held here in this regard, the association denounced the police action and called for withdrawing cases registered against lawyers.
It demanded that action be taken against those who had pulled down the lawyer chambers in Gujar Khan.
The body also expressed concerned over the army action in Balochistan as well as rising prices of petroleum products.
Meanwhile, in a press statement, Aziz Abro, acting district president of the People’s Party Parliamentarians, and others disapproved of the army action in Balochistan and called for initiating dialogue to resolve the matter amicably.
Use of force would harm the country, they asserted.
