By Our Correspondent

SUKKUR, March 19: Federal Minister for Investment and Privatization Dr Abdul Hafeez Shaikh has said that private sector should be mobilized to overcome unemployment among the youth as the government alone cannot cope up with the situation. He said that a million people were awaiting employment but the government could provide employment to 10,000 people only. Talking to the journalists at the press club in Jacobabad on Saturday, he urged investors to establish more industrial units in the country to strengthen its economy and overcome unemployment. He said that influential people managed to get good jobs while the poor were left with low-paying jobs. He said that very soon job opportunities would be offered to people but made it clear that jobs would be provided on merit only. He said that ministers wrote order on every application for the job but the orders were not be implemented, therefore, the youth should rely on their capabilities instead of running after ministers. He said that the local bodies’ system was aimed at resolving people’s problems at their doorstep. Later, the minister distributed 50 bicycles and 50 sewing machines among poor people.
