KARACHI, March 18: The Sindh Governor, Dr Ishratul Ibad, on Friday said it was the collective responsibility of people from all walks of life to deter any activity, which may lead to any law and order situation. He also directed the law enforcing agencies to ensure public cooperation in maintaining peace. Addressing a meeting to review the law and order situation in the province, he said peace and law and order situation had been improved with hectic efforts by the government and cooperation of the masses, adding that Karachi’s image had been rectified and it had became an excellent city for investment and economic activities.

The Sindh Home Minister, Rauf Siddiqui, Transport Minister Adil Siddiqui, Adviser Information Salahuddin Haider, Chief Secretary Mohammad Aslam Sanjrani, DG Rangers Maj-Gen Javed Zia, Secretary Home Brig (Retd) Mohtram, IGP Sindh Police Asad Jahangir, CCPO Tariq Jamil, DIG Operations Karachi Mushtaq Shah and other officials attended the meeting.

The governor said that development activities were also in swing in Karachi. He stressed the need for strengthening efforts to maintain law and order so that availability of employment opportunities could be ensured to the people.

He said all quarters of the community would have to contribute in maintaining law and order besides the government, police and the Rangers.

Mr Ibad directed the officials concerned to improve and reactivate the intelligence network and bolster efforts for eradicating street crimes, gambling and narcotic dens, and vulgarity.

He stressed for fully utilizing community policing, motorcycle force and all other available resources. — PPI
