Governor Gold Cup from Friday

PESHAWAR, March 16: All-Pakistan Governor Gold Cup hockey will commence from Friday at Qayyum Sports Complex hockey ground.The tournament is an annual feature of Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF) in which leading teams of the country will take part in order to search new talent for the future engagements.Habib Bank, PTCL, Wapda, Pakistan Air Force, PTCL, Pakistan Navy, Pakistan Army, National Bank, Higher Education Commission, Sui Gas, Pakistan Steel, Pakistan Customs, Pakistan Police and hosts NWFP will participate in the tournament.President Peshawar District Hockey Association Shariq Khan has been named as tournament director while International umpire Muhammad Asif was nominated by PHF as umpire manager.

Senior-vice-president of PHF Muhammad Saeed Khan is the chairman of the organizing committee. Chairman Competitions Committee of PHF, Syed Zahir Shah is acting as organizing secretary.

The names of the hockey umpires are: Nighar Hussain (Peshawar), Kamran Shah (Wapda), Ihsan-ul-Haque Babar (Rawalpindi), Muhammad Asif (Kohat), Tariq Jadoon (Abbottabad), Haque Nawaz (Haripur), Muhammad Mushtaq (Wapda), Haroon Saeed (Dera Ghazi Khan), Mubarik Ali (Gujranwala), Rana Khalid Iqbal (Faisalabad), Mian Ubaidur Rehman (Wapda).—APP
