Work on cadet college

OKARA, March 14: Defence Minister Rao Sikandar Iqbal has said the construction of a cadet college would begin soon here as the district administration would hand over the proposed 204 acres of land to Nespak till April 1.

He was talking during his visit to the college site on Okara-Faisalabad road in the presence of DCO Muhammad Aslam Kamboh, EDO (Revenue) Ghulam Nabi and Nespak General Manager Malik Muhammad Ilyas.

HOUSING SCHEME: The Punjab Housing and Physical Planning Department has approved a 30-acre low-income housing scheme in Renala Khurd.

Housing Minister Syed Raza Ali Gilani said this while giving details of the scheme. He said the housing colony would be equipped with modern civic facilities and plots would be allotted on merit.

He said that a 13-acre piece of land had been handed over to the district government for the construction of a degree college at Renala Khurd.

SI caught: Anti-corruption establishment Circle Officer, along with Magistrate Abdul Salam Arif, arrested a sub-inspector of Satgrah PS red-handed accepting bribe money.

CO Malik Dawood was informed that SI Abdul Salam, who was investigating officer in case No 25/2005, showed bogus recovery in the theft case and tortured the accused, Riasat Ali, of 15/IR village. The SI then demanded Rs10,000 from the relatives of the accused for providing him relief.

The CO, along with Magistrate Abdul Salam Arif conducted a raid and nabbed the SI when he was receiving bribe, and registered a case against the accused.
