KARACHI: Removal of encroachment in Hawkesbay ordered
KARACHI, March 14: Sindh Governor Dr Ishratul Ibad Khan has ordered immediate removal of all encroachments from Hawkesbay Housing Scheme.
He said that after the development activities in the scheme had picked up pace, the agents of land mafia were trying to occupy the land, which would be foiled at all cost.
Dr Ibad said this during a visit to Hawksbay Scheme on Monday evening.
The governor directed the police, revenue authorities and concerned officials of the city government to remain alert all the time to timely check encroachments.
In this regard, he said, instead of involving in paper formalities, they should maintain direct contact and take practical steps for the removal of encroachments.
During the visit, Dr Ibad ordered setting up of a police check post so that watch could be maintained on encroachments and illegal activities.
He said that a new police station should also be established.
The governor was accompanied by Adviser on Local Government Waseem Akhtar, Information Adviser Salahuddin Hyder, DCO Fazlur Rehman, CCPO Karachi, DIG operations, EDO Revenue and other officials.
The Project Director Lyari Development Authority, Shafiqur Rehman Paracha, briefed the governor about the pace of development works in the Hawksbay housing scheme.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr Ibad said that the government was working on priority basis to meet the housing needs of low income people.
He appreciated the development activities in the Hawksbay scheme.
In this regard the governor highly appreciated the efforts of Shafiqur Rehman Paracha and his team.
The governor directed that from May 1, the handing over of physical possession to allottees should be started. He pointed that allottees were waiting since many years for completion of development works and present government made it possible through sustained and coordinated efforts.
He said that because of year’s delay, the cost of development works had increased exorbitantly which, now, would have to be borne by the allottees and the government.
Dr Ibad said that after paying attention on New Malir, Hawksbay and Surjani Housing schemes, work should be started on other schemes.
