Fortnightly review of POL prices opposed

By Our Reporter

LAHORE, March 13: The Pakistan Workers Confederation has urged the government to stop fortnightly review of POL prices or link the same to their wages.

Criticizing the government policy at a meeting held at the Bakhtiar Labour Hall here on Sunday with Chaudhry Talib Nawaz in chair, All Pakistan Federation of Trade Unions president Haji Amin Rathore demanded that the fortnightly revision of POL prices be discontinued as it had a destabilizing effect on the price structure.

PWC provincial president Gulzar Chaudhry said the government should link the POL prices’ revision with the wages to increase the purchasing power of its employees and workers with increase in fuel prices. He said that the policy had been adopted without considering its adverse effects on the economy.

APFTU Additional Secretary Osama Tariq said that the government had raised the POL prices to an unprecedented level but was delaying the announcement of the recommendations of the Pay Committee.
