Gas pipeline damaged

By Our Correspondent

JACOBABAD/SUKKUR, March 13: A portion of a gas pipeline near the Gujrani Fall in the Tangwani area on the Sindh-Balochistan border was damaged by a bomb blast on Sunday morning.

According to police, saboteurs had planted the bomb which damaged an eight-inch portion of the pipeline and created a three feet crater. The explosion was heard far and wide, causing panic in the area.

According to the Tangwani police, the pipeline had no gas in it because it was not in use.

Officials of the bomb disposal squad reached the place of the blast and inspected the damaged pipeline. They said that the bomb was local-made and weighed four pounds.

According to a SSGC spokesman, the saboteurs wanted to disrupt supply of gas from the Dadu and Zamzama gas fields to Sui from where it is loaded into the pipelines of the Sui Northern Gas Pipe Line going to the Punjab and NWFP.
