KARACHI: Preparation of master plan for shrine ordered
KARACHI, March 13: Sindh Governor Dr Ishratul Ibad has ordered to prepare a comprehensive master plan to provide more facilities to devotees and to maintain the sanctity of the shrine of Hazrat Abdullah Shah Ghazi.
He issued these directives during his visit to the shrine of Hazrat Abdullah Shah Ghazi last evening. Sindh Adviser on Local Bodies Waseem Akhtar, DCO Karachi Fazlur Rahman and other officials were also present on the occasion.
A committee comprising of Sindh additional chief secretary for local government, DCO Karachi and Secretary Auqaf would prepare the master plan.
The governor asked the concerned authorities to prepare a plan for shifting of shops at the shrine to its backyard and directed city government officials to take immediate steps for widening of road in front of the shrine to improve flow of traffic.
Expressing resentment on the poor sanitary conditions in and outside the shrine, he directed Saddar town municipal administration to improve sanitary conditions, remove drug addicts from the shrine and take action against other illegal activities going on in the vicinity of the shrine.
He said, in the first phase, shops would be constructed in the backyard of the shrine and in the second phase shops would be shifted from front of the shrine to its backyard while nearby road would be widened to improve flow of vehicular traffic and to facilitate devotees.
Dr Ibad said complaints regarding sale of drugs were also received and directed law enforcing agencies to take action against such elements.
The governor said an important meeting to review improvement in facilities for devotees at the shrine would be held on March 28 in which decisions regarding renovation would be taken.
Dr Ibad made it clear that nobody would be allowed to violate the sanctity of the shrine.
Earlier, he laid floral wreath at the shrine and offered Fateha.
Underpasses: Sindh Governor Dr Ishratul Ibad has said that underpasses would be constructed at various important places to facilitate a smooth movement of people and traffic.
He stated this while visiting various roads, parks and other public facilities to review cleanliness and progress of work on different projects.
Adviser on Local Government Waseem Ahmed, Additional Chief Secretary Mohammed Saleem Khan and DCO Fazalur Rehman, besides DIG Operation and other officials, accompanied the governor during his visit.
At Schon Circle, KPT and FWO officials briefed the governor about the work on the underpass on this spot and another one at Boat Basin.
On this occasion, Dr Ibad issued directive for arranging alternative routes and installing guidance signs for commuters and pedestrians. He also called for the completion of work on main roads within a minimum possible time.
He also appealed to people to cooperate with the government by bearing the temporary inconvenience happily for the sake of lasting and permanent relief.—PPI/APP
