KARACHI: Ban urged on reuse of canisters

KARACHI, March 11: The Awami Hiumayat Tehreek has demanded a ban on reuse of oil and ghee canisters for re-packing cooking oil and ghee as its reuse is injurious to health.

Speaking at a press conference in Karachi Press Club on Friday afternoon, AHT chief, Maulvi Iqbal Haider said the reuse of canisters had been banned in Punjab as it causes heart, kidney, hepatitis like killer disease.

He said due to increasing victims of these killer ailments, the annual rate of its victim had gone to 20,000.

Maulvi Haider said even instructions of the Pakistan Standard Institute were clear, directing all business concerns to pack eatable and drinking items in new packing of tin cans and canisters.
