Dist govt fails to upgrade school

Published March 11, 2005

SIALKOT, March 10: The district government has failed to upgrade the girls primary school, Bheelo Mahaar, Daska, despite its announcement by the chief minister almost two years back.

Reports said CM Pervaiz Elahi had announced upgradation of the school to middle level on July 16, 2003 for providing educational facilities to girls of dozens of surrounding villages. The villagers had donated an acre of agricultural land for constructing the building of this school.

The departments concerned had also floated tenders which were later cancelled due to some unknown reasons. Expressing concern over delay in construction, local people told the press that Bheelo Mahaar was a main town in the area on Daska-Motra-Sialkot Road and there was no middle school for girls owing to which they had to go to far-flung areas. — Correspondent
