MoU to check animal diseases

LAHORE, March 10: The University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences, Lahore, and the Choong Ang Vaccine Laboratory Taejeon, Korea, signed a memorandum of understanding for cooperation in the fields of diagnosis and control of animal diseases and related activities.

The MoU was signed by UVAS Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Manzoor Ahmad and Korean laboratory president Dr InJoon Yoon.

Under the MoU, both the organizations will also cooperate in training programmes and visits to strengthen the laboratory-oriented training of the faculty and veterinary students of the university.

Prof Dr Manzoor said the two organizations agreed to collaborate in the areas of veterinary disease diagnostics, quality testing of local and imported vaccines, Emerging diseases of livestock, poultry and pets and future joint research projects.

AWARD: The Pakistan Council of Science and Technology has conferred ‘Research Productivity Award’ on Prof Dr Nasim Ahmad of the UVAS.

The award has been granted on the basis of research publications, after their quantitative and qualitative evaluation.

Prof Dr Nasim is presently working as chairman, department of theriogenology/animal reproduction at the Faulty of Veterinary Sciences of the UVAS. He had got the same award in 2000. Earlier, he was also given ‘PARC Scientist of the Year Award’ in 1999.
