Plea to transfer case to ATC dismissed

By Our Staff Reporter

ISLAMABAD, March 10: The Supreme Court on Thursday observed that cases relating to prostitution should be tried by ordinary courts as they did not fall under the domain of anti-terrorism courts.

“Anti-terrorism courts only try cases of terrorism or those involving religious fanaticism or disharmony, while matters like prostitution fall in the jurisdiction of ordinary courts,” said the bench comprising Justice Hamid Ali Mirza, Justice Mohammad Nawaz Abbasi and Justice Flak Sher while hearing a petition.

Ramzan Khan had moved the Supreme Court to shift the murder case of his father Ghaffar Khan, allegedly killed by a prostitute, to an anti-terrorism court from the court of district and Sessions judge Islamabad.
