Intikhab criticizes Inzamam, Woolmer

MOHALI, March 9: Former Pakistan cricket skipper Intikhab Alam on Wednesday criticized captain Inzamamul Haq and coach Bob Woolmer, saying they "lacked clear focus as they were still fiddling with the team.

"In my view, they are still looking for right combination. They are fiddling with combinations in the hope that something would click. That's not the way to go about it", Intikhab said.

"You need to have a clear focus on your line of action," said Intikhab, who is presently coaching Indian Punjab Ranji Trophy team and is Based in Mohali. He was also critical of the team's choice to play vice-captain Younis khan at number three position in first cricket Test against India here.

"In my opinion, on this wicket and movement it afforded, a batsman has to be very good technically to survive the conditions. I would have liked Asim Kamal to come at pivotal number three spot."

Younis scored only nine runs while Asim Kamal was Instrumental in pushing Pakistan to 312 with a well-crafted 91. "This is a kind of wicket where ball seems to do a bit in first and final session. The second one is usually best for batting," he said.

Intikhab said he looked forward to watching young Danish Kaneria in action. "He is a very talented player but I would like him to bowl more side on. At the moment, he is a front-on kind of bowler". -PPI
