KARACHI: Drive against narcotics launched
KARACHI, March 9: In light with the decision taken recently in Islamabad to uproot narcotics from provinces, Sindh Home Minister Rauf Siddiqui on Tuesday announced launching of "Sindh Free from Narcotics" campaign.
The decision to this effect has been taken at a meeting presided over by Sindh Home Minister Rauf Siddiqui. Anti-Narcotic Force chief Brig Mohammad Farooq Shaukat, Sindh Excise Adviser M.A. Jalil, Home Secretary, IGP, IG Jail, DG Narcotics and CCPO attended the meeting.
Rauf Siddiqui directed the heads of various departments to arrest the narcotic paddlers and seize narcotics. He urged them that stern action should be taken against those involved in this heinous business without any discrimination irrespective of the status of the person involved in it.
The meeting decided that a campaign should be launched with the cooperation of ANF, Excise Department and Sindh Police. It was further decided that the narcotics, which was confiscated by police and stored in various police stations, should be burnt immediately so that it might not be re-used.
It was decided that the staff of any department concerned, who recovered narcotics and arrested the dealer, would be promoted and awarded commendation certificate. Excise Adviser M.A. Jalil suggested that all the related departments should exchange information with each other to smash narcotic dens and arrest the narcotic paddlers. -APP
