MIRPURKHAS, March 9: The director of the Nara Canal Area Water Board has said adequate quantity of water has been released for Rabi season.

A meeting of the area water board was held on Tuesday under the chairmanship of Raees Khair Mohammad Bhurgari. Area water board director Ghulam Mustafa Dahiri, farmers' organization chairman Syed Ali Gohar Shah and others attended the meeting.

The meeting was told that water tax of Rs26.5 million of Kharif 2002 was collected till March 7 which was 60 per cent of the total estimate. Similarly, water tax of Rs8 million of Kharif 2003 was collected till March 7 which was 18 per cent of the total estimate. The meeting decided to issue a one-week notice to farmers' organizations which had failed to collect water tax.

COMMUNITY BOARDS: The consultant of the Devolution Trust for Community Empowerment, Dr Anwar Batt, has said no funds have been released for 40 approved development schemes under citizens community Boards. He was talking to journalists here on Wednesday. He said Rs53.5 million had been allocated schemes under the community boards.

CIVIL HOSPITAL: District PPP president Noor Hassan Chandio has alleged that the civil hospital administration is creating hindrance in grant of bail to arrested SPSF leaders Junaid Buland, Farooq Chishti and Yousuf Qureshi by not issuing medical certificates to two injured persons for one and a half month.

The People's Party Parliamentarians leader was presiding over a meeting at the Jilani House on Wednesday. The meeting also prepared a plan for welcoming party leader Asif Ali Zardari on April 16 at the Lahore Airport and finalized arrangements for observing the death anniversary of Zulfikar Ali Bhutto on April 4.
