KARACHI, March 8: Pakistan Telecommunication Company Limited (PTCL) reached semi-finals of the Patron's Trophy on net run-rate in only their second season of first-class with a 65-run win over ZTBL at the Quaid-i-Azam Cricket Park (Steel Town) on Tuesday.

With Allied Bank also winning their last Pool 'A' fixture, PTCL edged out the bankers with a difference of +0.262 on the net run-rate after both sides tied with 24 points.

With a run-rate of +0.370, PTCL booked a semi-final clash with seven-time champions Habib Bank, starting on Friday in Lahore. Mohammad Hussain, the slow left-armer, captured four for 85 as ZTBL were all out for 229 in the second innings after being asked to chase 295.

Left-hander Rehan Rafiq hit a valiant 104 with eight fours and one six and added 108 for the fifth-wicket with Naveed Qureshi (47). Earlier, PTCL skipper Aamir Bashir declared his second innings at 237 for four. Ashar Zaidi, who was three short of a century on Monday evening, was finally out for 125 after a fourth-wicket stand of 103 with Aamir (40 not out).
