Four appeals against Sherpao dismissed

By Our Staff Reporter

ISLAMABAD, March 7: The Supreme Court on Monday dismissed four appeals of the chief Ehtesab Commissioner and National Accountability Bureau filed against Interior Minister Aftab Ahmed Sherpao in a plot case.

"For reasons to be recorded later, we have dismissed the appeals against Sherpao," a three-member bench, comprising Chief Justice Nazim Hussain Siddiqui, Justice Javed Iqbal and Justice Abdul Hameed Doggar, said in a short order. Justice Javed Iqbal observed that concrete and cogent evidence was not available in the instance case.

It seemed that the instant case had been instituted merely on the ground that someone did not like the individual, the chief justice observed. The case had not been investigated properly, he added. Aftab Sherpao was accused of allotting three plots of one kanal each to three NWFP MPAs in Peshawar, in violation of allotment rules.
