Telephone exchange set ablaze

By Our Correspondent

QUETTA, March 6: saboteurs set the telephone exchange in Dera Bugti on fire on Sunday, resulting in suspension of telephone service in the district.

Nasirabad District Police Officer Ghulam Mohammad Dogar told Dawn that technicians were working to restore the system.

AFP adds: A Pakistan Telecommunication Corporation official said the attackers "broke into the building of the 1,000-line exchange when the security guards had locked the main gate and left the premises for Fajr prayers".

Provincial police chief Chaudhry Mohammad Yaqub said it was too early to blame any group for the blaze.
