'Sui probe futile after Musharraf's comments'

By Our Correspondent

QUETTA, March 6: Jamhoori Watan Party chief Nawab Akbar Khan Bugti said on Sunday that comments made by President Gen Pervez Musharraf about innocence of an army captain in the Sui rape case had rendered the investigation report meaningless.

In a statement issued here, Nawab Bugti said: "We reject the investigation report of the case before its publication as the main accused was neither arrested nor interrogated."

Nawab Bugti said the assault on a lady doctor in Sui hospital had been widely condemned over the past two months and people in every area had expressed resentment. But the comments made by the chief of the army staff about a man who had been blamed for the incident, was aimed at influencing the investigation, he said. Therefore, he added, the official investigation had lost its weight.

He said no conscientious person in the country would be satisfied until the main accused in the case was arrested and interrogated.
