BAHAWALPUR, March 4: EDO (Finance) Dr Raheel Siddiqui said on Friday there was a slight change in the schedule of desert jeep rally.

Talking to this correspondent, he spelt out the revised plan according to which the night rally of 148 kilometres would be held on March 16 instead of March 15.

Earlier, it was planned that the event would be followed by the day jeep rally of 265 kilometres, but now the day rally would be held on the morning of March 16 and terminate at the Derawar Fort at 6pm. The night rally would begin at 7pm and conclude at 4am the next morning, he said.

The remaining programmes, including spectacular cultural events, were unchanged. Dr Siddiqui said the cultural programmes would be participated in by the local folk singers to entertain the visitors, who would have to pay for their camping at the tent village.

The fort would be profusely illuminated, although there was no electricity in the desert. The district government had made special arrangements for electricity to mark the occasion, he said.

The Bahawalpur corps commander will be the chief guest at the flag-lowering ceremony to be held at the Derawar Fort on March 16 morning. The prize distribution ceremony will be held at the Noor Mahal in Bahawalpur on the evening of March 17 evening.
