PESHAWAR: Package for heirs of policemen


PESHAWAR, March 4: NWFP police chief Mohammad Raffat Pasha on Friday announced a package of compensation under the 'Shaheed police package' for the heirs of three policemen who died in a recent encounter in Bannu and enlistment of their relatives in the service.

The IG police paid a visit to Lakki Marwat district to express condolences over the death of Constable Ghulam Dawood at Bayees Khel village, Constable Gul Nawaz at Dalo Khel and Head-Constable Niaz Mohammad at Zangi Khel, said a press release issued here.

When the inspector-general of police was informed that the sons and brothers of the deceased did not have the required qualification, he announced enlistment of a close relative of each of them immediately and of their sons when they passed matriculation.

He announced payment of Rs500,000 within a week to the heirs of each of the deceased policemen, full salaries for remaining period of their service and education of their children of the department's expenses.

Constable Ghulam Dawood is survived by his widow, three sons and three daughters, Gul Nawaz by widow, two daughters and three sons and head-constable Niaz Mohammad by widow, four sons and three daughters. The IG visited the Bannu district headquarters hospital and enquired about the health of Constable Fatehullah, who was injured in the encounter. -APP
