TOBA TEK SINGH: Communist leaders to visit Toba

TOBA TEK SINGH, Feb 28: Communist Party of India (Marxist) secretary general Harkishan Singh Surjeet and Communist Party of India secretary general A. B. Bhardan have accepted invitation of National Workers Party Pakistan (NWP) to visit the district
on March 23 to attend an International Kissan Conference.
Punjab NWP president Chaudhry Fateh Muhammad told journalists here on Monday that the conference organizing committee members met both the Indian leaders at Lahore and extended them an invitation.
Various delegations of trade unions and farmers organizations from India would also attend the conference, he added. The conference is being held to commemorate the 1970 Maulana Abdul Hameed Bhashani Conference which had held here the same day.
ROBBERIES: Dacoits snatched Rs82,000 in cash from Mujahid Shah of Samanabad, Gojra, on Monday. According to police he was going to Toba from Gojra. Two gunmen intercepted him near Municipal Octroi Post on the Gojra Road who were riding a motorcycle without a number plate. They held him at gunpoint and snatched his bag containing the cash.
In another similar incident, three gunmen on a motorcycle without a number intercepted Shabbir Ahmad and his wife of Chak 349 GB near Chak 298 GB on Toba-Khikha Road and deprived them of gold ornaments, cash and other valuables worth thousands of rupees.
In the third incidents, three robbers on a numberless motorcycle stopped at gunpoint Khurram Shahzad and Muhammad Salim of Chak 370 JB near Bashirabad on Gojra-Moongi Road and drove away with their motorcycles. They shot at seriously injured Khurram Shahzad.
