HYDERABAD: Employees observe day of demands

By Dawn Report

HYDERABAD, Feb 28: Hesco employees marched from the Labour Hall, Gari Khata, to the press club here on Monday in connection with their 'demands day'.

CBA union president Abdul Latif Nizamani and provincial leaders Iqbal Qaimkhani, Mir Khan Baloch, Malik Sultan, Qazi Saleem Anwar and others led the procession.

The workers carried placards and banners and raised slogans in support of their demands. Speaking on the occasion, Mr Nizamani criticized the privatization programme, Presidential Ordinance, 2000, and the Industrial Relations Ordinance, 2002.

He lashed out at the Hesco chief executive for terminating services of company employees and sending them on forced retirement. He warned the Hesco chief that if he did not stop his 'anti-workers' policies, his office would be besieged.

Mr Nizamani called upon the president, prime minister and the Wapda chairman to take notice of excesses against employees. A protest demonstration was also held at the gate of the Jamshoro powerhouse.

NAWABSHAH: The members of the Nawabshah chapter of the Pakistan Wapda Hydro Electric Central Labour Union observed a "demands day" here on Monday to put pressure on the authorities to accept their demands.
