Karachi on Global Flyer's route

SALINA, Feb 28: After weeks of weather delays, all systems are go for a takeoff of the Virgin Atlantic Global Flyer, the experimental plane seeking to make the first solo, non-stop, non-refuelled flight around the world, organizers said on Sunday.

The Global Flyer, piloted by American adventurer Steve Fossett, was expected to lift off from a Salina airstrip between 2100 GMT and 0000 GMT on Monday.

Karachi is among the cities Steve Fossett expects to pass above along the way. Other major cities on Mr Fossett's route include Chicago, Toronto, London, Paris, Rome, Cairo, Bahrain, Kolkata, Shanghai. -AFP
