FAISALABAD: Minister for action against policemen

FAISALABAD, Feb 27: Federal Minister for Law, Justice and Human Rights Wasi Zafar has directed police high-ups to take strict action against policemen who had allegedly gunned down two people and injured four others in a `fake' police encounter.

Speaking at an open katchery here in Chak 102-GB in Jaranwala tehsil on Sunday, the minister said that nobody would be allowed to violate law and strict action would be taken against the policemen who killed innocent people in a fake encounters.

He said that the government was trying its best to protect the life and property of the people and efforts were being made to bridge the gap between the police and the public.

He directed the police to complete the charge sheet of the case within two weeks and submit it in the court for trial. He also ordered immediate arrest of all the accused policemen involved in the crime.

DIG Sajjad Ahmed, DPO Muhammad Amin Wains and Saddar SP Tauqeer Hayat were also present on the occasion. Meanwhile, the minister also met with the relatives of deceased Saleem Nawaz and Zafar Ayub, and assured them that justice would be done at all costs.
