MMA vows to raise issue in Punjab PA: Trains' suspension

BAHAWALPUR, Feb 26: MMA deputy parliamentary leader in Punjab Assembly Dr Syed Waseem Akhtar has said the issue of cancellation of Rohi Express and other four trains' routes will be raised on the floor of the assembly.

Talking to the party workers here on Saturday, he expressed grave concern over the decision of the PR to suspend the trains' traffic on the main lines. He said people of Bahawalpur and other areas were facing a great deal of inconvenience due to the decision.

Dr Akhtar warned the PR authorities that the alliance would launch a protest campaign if the services of the trains were not restored immediately. He said he would submit an adjournment motion in the assembly.

ELECTION SCHEDULE: The election board of the Bahawalpur High Court Bar Association announced on Saturday the schedule of polling to be held on March 28.

According to the schedule, nomination papers will be received on Feb 28 and their scrutiny will be carried out on March 1. The final list of candidates will be notified on March 2.

Meanwhile, the Punjab Bar Council has directed the bar president to accept subscription of 200 members and grant them right to vote.

GRANT: The chief minister has released a financial grant of Rs50 million for the Zoo renovation project in the district, according to MPA Ms Sitara Fayyaz.

She said some parts of the zoo would be renovated and more animals acquired with the grant.
