Implementation of SC order stressed: SSGC sacked employees

By Our Reporter

ISLAMABAD, Feb 27: The Senate special committee on petroleum and natural resources on Saturday expressed its dissatisfaction over the delay in the implementation of the Supreme Court verdict regarding absorption of the sacked Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC) employees.

The members of the committee at a meeting presided over by Chaudhry Mohammad Anwar Bhinder asked for the speedy absorption of the sacked employees and payment of arrears to them. Minister of State for Petroleum and Natural Resources Mir Mohammad Nasir Mengal said a strategy would be evolved to accommodate the affected employees whenever vacancies were available in the company.

The representatives of the affected employees apprised the committee of their grievances and demanded that the judgment of the Supreme Court should be implemented.

Mr Bhinder said all the hurdles in the way of the speedy implementation of the court decision should be pointed out. The committee, he said, would formulate its final recommendations which would be placed before the House.

The meeting was attended by senators Raza Rabbani, Sanaullah Baloch, Dr Ismael Buledi, Agha Pari Gul, Abul Razzak Thahim, Dr Khalid Ranjha, Bibi Yasmeen Shah, Mir Mohammad Naseer Mengal and Tahir Iqbal.
