FAISALABAD, Feb 25: The District Bar Association has strongly criticized the statement of President Gen Musharraf about short dresses of women and declared it un-Islamic and in violation of the constitution.

During a general house meeting of the bar association here on Friday, the lawyers said the plea taken by President Pervez Musharraf about the Islamic traditions and values were nothing but to present an illogical picture of Islam.

They said the issuance of illogical statements by the president about Islamic values had become a routine matter. The nation should take notice of the situation, he added. The meeting noted that the constitution made it mandatory on the rulers to run the affairs of the country in accordance with Islamic injunctions.

The meeting further noted that the present regime had aired un-Islamic policies through electronic media and also launched a campaign through the print media which was highly uncalled for. The meeting adopted resolutions in favour of Islam and against the president.
