QUETTA, Feb 24: Balochistan Chief Minister Jam Mir Mohammad Yousuf on Wednesday asked all political parties in the province to join hands with the government to help implement the agenda of people's wellbeing.
Speaking to victims of rains and heavy snowfall in the Muslim Bagh area of Qila Saifullah district, he said: "The parties could prove themselves the real representative of the people by taking part in the development plan," he said. The chief minister vowed that his government would give equal attention to the areas affected by the natural calamity and provide relief to all victims.
The relief work was continuing in all the affected areas of Balochistan and the government had provided all available resources to the authorities concern for rehabilitation of the displaced people, he said.
He said the army and Frontier Corps played an important role in launching relief operation and rescuing hundreds of people who were trapped due to blockade of roads in the rains and snowfall.
He said the government had immediately released Rs15 million for providing food to the three districts of northern Balochistan that were badly hit in the heavy snowfall.
The chief minister claimed that his government did not believe in discrimination on the basis of rationalism or otherwise. It was a true democratically elected government, he added.
He said the people had reposed full confidence in the government and it would not disappoint them. The provincial, he said, government was aware of all problems of the province as every district of the province had representation in the present government.
Speaking on the occasion, Senior Provincial Minister Maulana Abdul Wasay said the chief minister had already directed the authorities concerned to rehabilitate of all the affected people of Qila Saifullah.
He said all the roads and development projects affected in the floods would be repaired and re-constructed soon. The government with the help of the army and other civil armed forces had immediately launched relief operation in all the affected areas.
District Nazim Qila Saifullah Hasan Khan Jogezai said extolled the chief minister for his interest in the relief operation. Earlier, the chief minister was briefed on the losses suffered in the rains, floods and snowfall.
The Frontier Corps commandant informed the chief minister that five people had died in the recent rains and snowfall of the around 10,000 people affected in the natural calamity.
He said 1,127 houses had collapsed or damaged due to heavy snowfall and rains. He said work was in progress for restoring road link of the affected areas with the rest of the province.
