KARACHI: Importance of capacity building highlighted

KARACHI, Feb 24: Sindh Labour Minister Adil Siddiqui on Thursday urged workers, as well as officials, to improve their skills and capacity so that they could perform their duties more efficiently.

Speaking at the concluding session of the two-day seminar on Capacity Building for High Officials and CBA of SESSI (Sindh Employees Social Security Institution, he highlighted the importance of capacity building in the discharge of professional duties.

He said that success of any institution's functioning was linked with the individual performance of its employees. For the purpose, he added, refresher courses to develop and improve skills of employees were vital.

Earlier, Rasool Bux Phulpoto of Sessi gave a resume of the institution. Making mention of Sessi hospitals for workers, he pointed out that new wards had been established and more doctors and consultants, appointed to provide better service to patients.

He said that the institution was not only providing medical facilities and cash benefits to the workers secured under its social security scheme, but was also providing training facilities to its employees in order to improve their skills.

Fatima Hassan of Sessi, Ghayoorul Hassan of the National Institute of Labour Education and Training (NILAT), Tanveer Ishrat and Mehdi Hassan were among others who spoke at the seminar.
