SHIKARPUR, Feb 23: Assistant technical coordinator of the European Union, Berry Clerk, has said that with the technical and financial assistance of the union, the government has introduced a special programme to improve administrative work
to provide basic amenities in Shikarpur and Thatta districts.
Speaking at a meeting of elected representatives and district officers at the office of the district nazim here on Wednesday, Mr Clerk said that under the Audit, Service and Intelligence Programme, the EU would provide 50 million Euros to the government to achieve the goal of providing health, educational, financial, security and other social welfare services to the people.
He said that five million Euros would be spent under his direct supervision, whereas the rest would be spent through the government to raise the standard of education, health, administration, devolution of power, small business enterprise, home industry and micro-financing facilities.
Technical training facility would also be provided by the Union to the people of the two districts under the eight-month programme, he added. Implementation of the programme would start in the first week of March, following meetings with elected representatives and district heads of educational institutions, hospitals and financial departments, Mr Clerk concluded.
