KARACHI, Feb 23: The Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) is soon launching the "ACCA Pakistan Business journalist of the year" award to promote financial and business journalism in Pakistan.

This was announced by Mr Arif Masud Mirza, President of the ACCA, Karachi Chapter on Wednesday at a one-day workshop for the business journalists from print and electronic media from all over Pakistan to improve their skills on analyzing balance sheets, profit and loss accounts and business statements.

The President of Karachi Chamber of Commerce and Industry Mr Khalid Feroz inaugurated the workshop and in his brief remarks underscored the need of updating professional skills of journalists to maintain the quality of the journalism in the country.

Mr Masud Malik briefed journalists on the financial ratios that can be used as tools in analyzing the balance sheets, profit and loss and business statements. The President of the Karachi Press Club gave an overview of business reporting in Pakistan during last 30 years.
