SADIQABAD, Feb 21: Two-hundred acres have been acquired for the establishment of an industrial estate in the Rahim Yar Khan district and the process for the installation of a milk plant is under way, it is learnt here.

Meanwhile, Federal Industries Minister Jehangir Khan Tareen has said that the central government has approved the establishment of an industrial estate in Rahim Yar Khan on the initiative of district Nazim Makhdoom Syed Ahmad Mehmood to provide employment opportunities to the jobless youth of the area.

COTTON LOOTED: Dacoits looted two merchants carrying a cotton consignment in two tractor-trollies near Dharki. However, the police recovered the vehicles after a shootout.

Reports said Rana Muhammad Iqbal and Muhammad Zaman were intercepted by the dacoits and drove away with the tractor-trollies laden with cotton worth hundreds of thousands of rupees.

On receiving information, a heavy police contingent chased the outlaws. On seeing the police, the dacoits opened fire. After a shootout, the police succeeded to arrest a dacoit, Qaim, and recovered a kalashnikov and a large number of cartridges. Both the trollies were also recovered.
