Arsenal pay the penalty against Sheffield United
LONDON, Feb 19: Arsenal were stunned by Championship side Sheffield United whose last-minute penalty forced a replay in a 1-1 draw as the underdogs rose to the occasion in FA Cup fifth round on Saturday.
Un fancied League One side Brent ford pulled off a 2-2 draw at Premier ship strugglers Southampton and Championship club Leicester pulled off a last-minute 2-1 win at Charlton.
Kevin Davies scored the only goal at the Reebok Stadium as Bolton edged out visitors Fulham to reach the quarter-finals - the first time for them in 11 years - in Saturday's other tie.
English Premiership champions Arsenal - again fielding an all-foreign line-up - threw victory away when Switzerland under-21 defender Philippe Senderos handled in the box allowing Andy Gray to cancel out Robert Pires's 78th-minute opener.
Gunners skipper Dennis Bergkamp was dismissed 35 minutes in for twice shoving Blades centre-half Danny Cullip in the throat in a bad-tempered melee following a rough tackle on Arsenal midfielder Cesc Fabregas.
United thought they had scored three minutes before the break but Cullip's header was ruled out as the referee had spotted an infringement in the build-up. France winger Pires tapped in from close range for his first goal since December 26 after United goalkeeper Paddy Kenny could only parry Mathieu Flamini's testing shot.
That seemed enough to send the Gunners into the quarter-finals but the Blades refused to give up and won a last-gasp penalty to set up a replay at Bramall Lane on March 1.
"I just made my mind up which way to go and concentrated on it," Gray told the BBC. "It was hard work. Against Arsenal, you don't get many chances to come back, but fortunately we got the penalty in the last minute," he added.
Brentford shocked Premiership strugglers Southampton who were lucky to remain in the FA Cup as the rampant Bees went for victory. Brentford, chasing a play-off place in England's third tier, were 2-0 down before recovering to force a replay at Griffin Park.
Henri Camara scored both goals for the Saints. Kevin Phillips passed the ball down the left for former England full-back Graeme Le Saux, who squared it for Camara to tap in from six yards four minutes in.
The Senegal striker had another easy left-footed tap-in on 36 minutes for his fourth goal in three games on loan from Wolverhampton, Phillips this time the provider from the left as the Saints seemed set to cruise into the quarter-finals. But Brentford refused to give up and Isaiah Rankin lashed in an excellent strike from 18 yards out five minutes before the break to give the Bees hope. Sam Sodje then shocked the home crowd in the 58th minute, heading in Jay Tabb's cross at the far post from half a yard out to salvage an unlikely draw.
Charlton came unstuck again in only their second fifth round appearance in the last nine years. Veteran former England striker Dion Dublin headed in a last-minute goal from Gareth Williams' in swinging corner to leave the home side shell-shocked at The Valley.
Leicester took the lead when Greece defender Nikos Dabizas shrugged off Talal El Karkouri to head in Joey Gudjonsson's free kick from close range on 38 minutes. The goal was much deserved by a spirited Leicester but the lead lasted just seven minutes before South Africa striker Sean Bartlett levelled affairs against the run of play with a skillful strike.
Paul Konchesky crossed from the left for Bartlett who flicked the ball beyond Foxes goalkeeper Ian Walker with the outside of his right foot before Dublin won the day.
A 12th-minute strike by Davies was enough to send Bolton into the quarter-finals at the Cottagers' expense. Fernando Hierro was fouled by the visitors' Sylvain Legwinski and took the free kick himself which set up the only goal of the game.
Henrik Pedersen passed from the left for Davies, who struck from 18 yards. Nigeria Jay-Jay Okocha missed two good chances to seal it for Bolton, missing a simple header from six yards and scuffing another effort into the ground when it seemed easier to score.
