Rs370m released for Mohmand Agency


PESHAWAR, Feb 19: The government has released Rs370.146 million under the current Annual Development Programme for the development of Mohmand Agency.

During the past six moths, the government had spent Rs185.94 million on various projects and development schemes in the health, education, public health engineering, communications, power and agriculture sectors in the agency, a Fata media cell release said here on Saturday.

In this regard, the government spent Rs30 million in education sector, Rs78 million in power sector, Rs16 million in communications sector and Rs14 million in health sector, having the 99.98 per cent of fund utilization ratio during the past six months in Mohmand Agency.

As many as 96 development schemes were being implemented, including 83 per cent ongoing and 13 new schemes, the press release said. It added that in education sector, 90 community schools were being opened, including 20 for girls, whereas 12 middle schools had been upgraded.

In health sector, 28 community health centres were being opened and all major hospitals of the agency were being provided CT scan, MRI machines and others latest equipment.

"Seventeen mega drinking water supply schemes were also completed under the current ADP," the press release said and added that a feasibility study of a pilot project of the Ghalani drinking water scheme was also in progress.

In the communication sector, a 118km-long road had been constructed, while another road was being built to link all major towns and cities of the agency. Moreover, a road up to Manzari in the Khoezai area had already been opened for traffic. In the Bhaizai area, work on 74 wells, 10 barani ponds and dams was in progress, it added.

Moreover, Rs53.602 million had already been utilized under the Khoizai package, Rs72 million under the Ambar package and Rs10.172 million under the Baizai package to bring the agency on a par with developed areas of the country. - APP
