KARACHI: Mourning procession taken out
KARACHI, Feb 19: The mourning procession of the 9th of Muharram terminated at Markazi Imambargah Hussainian Iranian, Kharadar here at 6.30pm hours after marching through its traditional route ie Nihstar Park
, Old Numaish, M.A. Jinnah road, Saddar, Regal Chowk, M.A. Jinnah road (again), Boulton Market, Kharadar.
The procession started by 1.30 pm after Markazi Majlis at Nishtar Park, which was addressed by Allama Talib Jauhri. Small processions from various areas of the city had started reaching Nishtar Park since early morning that turned into a big assembly. Pak Haideri Boy Scouts led the procession.
First aid camps were set up by various organisations of Boy Scouts, City District Government Karachi, Rangers and social welfare organizations for mourners. Sabeels were also set up by different organizations.
Foolproof security measures were taken to ensure normalcy. Patrolling of law-enforcement agencies' personnel was enhanced besides their heavy deployment along the designated routes of processions. All streets/roads leading to the route of the main procession were sealed with containers and other objects to ensure total blockade of any entry to the procession.
Sindh Governor Dr Ishratul Ibad Khan and Chief Minister Dr Arbab Ghulam Rahim, Home Minister, M. Rauf Siddiqui and Chief Secretary, Aslam Sanjrani took an aerial view of the city to review the arrangements and law and order situation. IGP Asad Jehangir Khan also visited various areas of the city, especially the main procession's route to see security and traffic arrangements.
Chief organizer Anwar Ali said the mourners in small processions from entire city would start reaching Nishtar Park from midnight for "Aamal-i-Shab" where they would be making special prayers.
There would be Majlis Azan-i-Ali Akbar in the early morning which would be followed by Markazi majlis starting at 8am. It would be addressed by Allama Talib Jauhri. Around 9pm, the main Youm-i-Ashur procession would start its march on its traditional route adopted on Saturday. It is scheduled to reach Imambargah Hussainian Iranian, Kharadar at around 5pm. -APP
