MITHI: Radio station being set up in Mithi

MITHI, Feb 19: The Pakistan Broadcasting Corporation is making all out efforts to start radio transmission in Mithi in two months.
A four-member team of the PBC from Islamabad arrived here on Thursday and took possession of a building in the Revenue Colony for setting up the radio station.
The director planning and development of the PBC, Mr Mukrib Khan Niazi, said a regional FM radio station with frequency of 97MHz was being established for the people of Thar.
"Having received directives from Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz to start FM radio station, the PBC has acquired one acre land to establish the radio station," he said. Mr Niazi said construction of the building would take some time therefore they had repaired a building in the Revenue Colony to start the transmission.
He said about Rs30 million had been allocated for the purpose and programmes of the radio station could be listened within the range of 60 kilometres. "Establishment of a radio station in Thar will not only provide a recreation facility but promote culture and local vocalists to the outer world", he said.
ENCHROACHMENT: The judicial magistrate and first class magistrate, Mr Abdul Sattar Abbasi, accompanied by the municipal staff, removed encroachments near the civil hospital on Friday.
A resident of the town, Mr Chandar Sharma, had complained to the district and sessions judge regarding the encroachments. In a letter sent to the district nazim, the director human rights had directed the nazim to shift the old bus stop to newly-built bus terminal.
