DADU, Feb 19: A couple has complained that their six-year old daughter was admitted to the ENT ward of the Civil Hospital of Dadu because of an ear ailment but the doctors operated on her eye two days ago.

Sadori and Ghulam Nabi Khaskheli, residents of Bachal Rind village, Johi taluka, told journalists on Saturday that the ENT and eye wards of the civil hospital had been jointly established in the same hall.

According to them, their daughter, Samina, was given bed-12 of the ward but later removed to bed-13. The earlier occupant of the bed-13, who was a girl of Samina's age, had to undergo an eye surgery but Samina was mistakenly taken to operation theatre and operated for eye.

They demanded action against the doctors and staff responsible for the operation. Meanwhile, the Citizens' Action Committee has announced that it will launch a protest campaign if no action is taken against the doctors and staff.

On the other hand, EDO (health) Dr Dhani Bux has claimed that on the advice of an ENT specialist of the hospital, an eye of the patient had been cleaned and not operated on. However, Civil Surgeon, Dadu, Dr Javed Ahmed Dawach, has constituted a committee of senior doctors of the hospital to conduct an investigation into the matter.
