HYDERABAD, Feb 18: Police have established control rooms in offices of TPOs with the main control centre working at office of the TPO city to monitor Ashura processions through close circuit TV cameras.
Movement of vehicles and public will be monitored from Qadamgah Maula Ali to Karbala Dadan Shah. Besides, the district has been placed under a joint security cover of Rangers and the police to ensure law and order.
The Rangers have set up help centres and pickets in the city. About 2,000 police personnel and regular police force of various police stations have also been deployed in the district.
In addition to that some 500 Rangers and volunteers would join law and order duties. The Rangers have also set up their pickets along roads and rooftops. A central monitoring cell has also been established in the office of the additional DPO.
About 12 points have been declared sensitive in the district including Qadamgah Maula Ali, Karbala Dadan Shah, Mehfil-i-Hussaini, Station Road, Saadat Colony, Imamia Trust, Bulri Shah Karim, Bhitshah, Shumaila Imambargah and Imambargah Tando Mohammad Khan. On the Ashura day, the area between Qadamgah Maula Ali and Karbala Dadan Shah would be completely closed with barbed wires.
SPYO: Unrest prevailed among activists of the Sindh People's Youth Organization over nomination of Amjad Baloch as the central president of the SPYO. SPYO activist Lala Rehman Pathan has sent an e-mail to Benazir Bhutto, stating that Mr Baloch had supported Gen Pervez Musharraf in the mock presidential referendum.
