Contradictory statements by PCB officials

By Our Sports Reporter

ISLAMABAD, Feb 17: Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) officials created a lot of confusion on Thursday on the much debated issue of Ahmedabad.

The board chairman Mr. Shaharyar M. Khan emerged from a meeting with Indian Foreign Minister Natwar Singh to announce that Pakistan could play a Test in Mumbai and only a one-dayer in Ahmedabad, the venue chosen initially for a Test but rejected by the PCB citing security reasons.

The chairman has erred, said Abbas Zaidi, director Operations quickly sent out a press release that contradicted his boss. "Media reports emanating from India as well as Pakistan are purely speculative, so was the news item that Pakistan would be willing to play in Ahmedabad," the release said.
