ISLAMABAD, Feb 17: The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) has donated a cheque for $30,000 to the Pakistan Red Crescent Society (PRCS) for the rain-affected people.
The cheque was handed over by UNDP representative Zafar Iqbal to PRCS Secretary General Khalid Kibriya at the society's national headquarters on Thursday, says a press release.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr Kibriya thanked the representative for assistance. He said till now, all the operations had been carried out through the society's indigenous resources and this donation would be used for the rehabilitation of homeless people in the affected areas.
"We have set up a control room at the national headquarters, and it is working round-the-clock to monitor the relief operations in Balochistan, the NWFP and the Azad Jammu and Kashmir," he said. The UNDP representative appreciated the PRCS's role in the crisis and assured full support in this regard.
