GUJRAT: 112 POs held in a month

GUJRAT, Feb 17: Kharian Saddar police claim to have arrested 112 proclaimed offenders and recovered from their possession illegal weapons during the last one month.

SHO Javed Aslam Malhi told newsmen that during the recent campaign against the POs, Kharian Saddar police station had arrested 112 POs of both A and B categories. By arresting a good number of POs, he said, the crime graph in the area had shown a considerable decline.

He said the Haqiqa kidnap for ransom case in which a woman of an influential family was kidnapped had become a challenge for the police, who reached the culprits and brought them to book.

He said two nominated accused Asjad and Ejaz had been gunned down in an encounter while the remaining arrested. The officials of the station had also arrested the dacoits, who targeted the house of Advocate Chaudhry Asghar Paswal.
