HYDERABAD: Water supply and sanitation plan prepared

By Bureau Report

HYDERABAD, Feb 17: The Water and Sanitation Agency has prepared a contingency plan to ensure quick disposal of sewage and water supply during Muharram.

Highlighting features of the plan in a statement issued here on Wednesday, Wasa managing director Shaukat Hayat Bhutto said in addition to increasing normal pumping hours, water tankers had also been arranged to meet any emergency regarding water supply.

He said desilting of a drain along the main road of Latifabad, units 8 and 12, disposal of accumulated sewage and sludge and covering of open manholes along routes of processions in Hyderabad's three taluka municipal administrations were also included in the plan.

He said four special desilting squads would be deployed to ensure sewage did not accumulate on the Station road from Qadamgah Maula Ali to Dadan Shah. Besides, a cess pool lorry would be also made available on the road exclusively for Qadamgah Maula Ali to take care of any emergency, he added.

Mr Bhutto said Hesco had been requested to avoid load- shedding for uninterrupted water supply and sewage disposal. He said complaint centres had also been set up at each taluka municipal administration in addition to the Thandi Sarak pumping station for entertaining public complaints regarding supply of water and disposal of effluent.
